Phillip Lim, born as Pheng Lim, on September 16, 1973, in Thailand, is a celebrated American fashion designer known for his eponymous label “3.1 Phillip Lim”. His parents, originally from Cambodia, fled the Khmer Rouge regime, eventually settling in Southern California when Lim was a young child. This multicultural background has influenced Lim’s unique design aesthetic, blending contemporary styles with a touch of his Asian heritage.
Lim’s journey into fashion was somewhat serendipitous. Initially enrolled at California State University, Long Beach, as a business major, he soon switched to the fashion program after realizing his passion for design.
