I’ve never seen Quince have a sale before, but they happen to be running a 1-day event today and the silk slip skirt is included! See my post on 3 ways to style this skirt.
I’ve purchased many Quince pieces over the years (from bedding to $50 cashmere basics), and wanted to do an update with some warm weather pieces! The general consensus from my summer try-ons is that while I’m impressed by the fabrics and styles for the price points, I’d love if they started introducing xxs / 00. Their pieces start in XS and many are just a little too big, though a few are do-able for smaller-framed petites.
The below includes some gifted items that I chose from Quince, with no obligation to share on the blog:
1. Black Cotton Poplin Midi Dress
This dress has been one of my most reached-for summer items! It delivers in terms of comfort & practicality, while feeling feminine and non-boring. The 100% cotton poplin fabric holds its shape and stays cool and crisp in the heat. The smocked waist has stretch, and the neckline and straps are all adjustable. There are pockets for easy phone access, and the slight midi length has been ideal for me lately. I go bra-less in this dress, but adhesive nippies would be a safe choice.
Fit: the XS top is slightly loose on me around the top bust, though I’ve tightened it a bit using the adjustable neckline and straps. I’ve worn this with my black Adidas sneakers, flat strappy sandals, and also a minimal heel for varying levels of dressiness. Aritzia has a similar version of this dress with wider straps starting in xxs, and Nordstrom has similar in white under $60 (but no adjustable straps).
2. Tencel Jersey Fit & Flare dress (Long vs. Short)
Quince has an entire Tencel jersey collection, and while the designs are simpler than what I personally gravitate towards, this fabric is lounge-worthy. It’s incredibly smooth, soft and comfy against the skin. This dress has a swingy fit & flare silhouette, pockets, and the neckline and straps work with a regular bra. See my try on video.
Fit: The XS actually fit me pretty well throughout, but note that strap length may get longer for larger sizes. This dress comes in a “mini” (shown on me below) or original longer length – the mini hits at my knees, and the regular hits a few inches above my ankles. With flats, my ideal length feels in-between these two options. With a slight heel, I prefer the longer but that’s just because I’ve been gravitating more towards midi lengths.
3. White Linen Dress
I love so many things about this easy linen dress! Style-wise, it might actually be one of my favorite Quince pieces, but the sizing is sadly too big for smaller-framed petites. The XS fits me roomy in the chest / torso and wide at the straps, even after I washed and dried it on high hoping for shrinkage. Such a shame since the cut is feminine and classic with adjustable straps and pockets, and it’s very comfortable to wear and not see through. I might take this one in along both sides.
4. Crepe Shorts
I’ve tried on my share of tailored shorts in my search, and these crepe shorts are a sleeper hit! Unfortunately sizing only starts in 0, so these are roomy at my waist (I’m typically 00 / 24) but I wear them with a belt and do feel they fit TTS for a 0. The mid length, classic cut, and crepe fabric however are all excellent. I’ll try to take a photo soon but wanted to share while sizes are stocked.
For those with a smaller waist, the Aritzia tailored shorts feel very nice and come in smaller sizing (00, 0). Their “mini” length is a little shorter than the Quince.
Gap has a pair called 365 Shorts which I’m assuming are the same nice and drapey material as their 365 Pants (see on me). I’m interested in trying those but would expect them to fit big, as is typical with Gap.
5. Two Piece Linen Shirt + Shorts Set
Coordinating sets are the best for effortless summer dressing, and I was impressed by the petite-friendly fit on these. The length of both the shirt and shorts are good for my frame and the shirt has a naturally boxier cut. Do they look a bit like PJs? Maybe. But I’m loving the ease of the set. They can be worn separately with solid colored or denim basics, and also with the shirt open as a swim cover up.
Let me know if you have any Quince favorites that I need to check out next!
