If there is one haircut trend that is still gaining momentum as we head into 2024, it’s the bob haircut. From Hailey Bieber to Zendaya, we’ve seen just about every celebrity embrace shorter lengths of late, wether it be the jaw-length box bob or the shoulder-skimming Italian bob. However, we’ve seen another classic bob resurface again: the pixie bob haircut.

Taylor Hill recently cut her long hair into this short pixie bob haircut.

Also known as the ‘bixie cut’ the pixie bob is a hybrid of the two hairstyles, featuring the shorter crop of a pixie cut that sits close to the head, with the addition of the longer lengths that are often at the nape of the neck or side-swept into a side parting. Celebrities such as Taylor Hill have recently embraced the cut, and hairstylists are anticipating it to be a huge hair trend for spring.

Hairstylist Hollie Clarke predicted that the pixie bob haircut (AKA, the bixie) was going to be big news in 2024 late last year. “The Bixie is back,” says Clarke. “It’s the edgier, art school sister to the Parisian bob. She’s carefree, a little shorter and the blunt finish to a classic bob haircut is lost in favour of soft texture and shorter layers. It has a whole lot of face framing, knocking off that signature corner off of the bob, and adding short Bardot-inspired bangs,” she says.

The beauty of this haircut is that it is so versatile. It can be cut with a choppy fringe and layers for a textured look, or have a sleek silhouette with longer layers. It really lets naturally curly hair texture shine, and for instant glamour, it can be swept back for a wet-look vibe.

It feels fitting that Pixie Lott should have a pixie bob, and I love how she has styled her side-swept hair with a hair barrette.

You can achieve a really sleek look like Taylor Russell’s by straightening your pixie bob and finishing with smoothing serums for an expensive-looking gloss.

“The bixie is an effortless cool-girl cut. It’s all about embracing your natural texture, or if you have straight hair, you’ll need a few styling hacks to create that texture,” says Clarke. This matte pomade is ideal for defining choppy layers or fringes, and adding texture to fine or straight hair.

You can use this sparingly to create a smooth, healthy shine, or saturate the hair with it for a wet-look effect too.

This curl definer and setter creates definition and gloss.

Apply at the roots for instant areated volume.

Standard straighteners are often too big to get to the roots, whereas this miniature version is easy for straightening roots or adding waves or curls through the lengths with ease.
