Ingredients:
10 fresh jalapeños, sliced into rings
1 cup white vinegar
1 cup water
2 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp salt
2 cloves garlic, peeled and crushed
1 tsp black peppercorns
1 tsp cumin seeds (optional)
1 bay leaf
Recipe:
In a medium saucepan, combine the white vinegar, water, sugar, and salt. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring until the sugar and salt are fully dissolved.
Add the crushed garlic, black peppercorns, cumin seeds (if using), and bay leaf to the boiling mixture.
Once the mixture reaches a boil, add the sliced jalapeños and remove the saucepan from heat. Let the jalapeños sit in the hot liquid for about 15 minutes.
Transfer the jalapeños and liquid to a clean glass jar, making sure the jalapeños are fully submerged. Allow the mixture to cool to room temperature.
Seal the jar with a lid and refrigerate for at least 24 hours before serving to allow the flavors to develop.
