For busy working women, the suit is often the easiest outfit to throw on in the morning. In general, this feature is not about interview suits for women, which should be as classic and basic as you get — instead, this feature is about the slightly different suit that is fashionable, yet professional. Also: we just updated our big roundup for the best women’s suits of 2024!

Mango has this interesting “padded shoulder blazer” in their suiting collection, and I’m impressed because it somehow does not feel ’80s, ’40s, or any other era I associate with shoulder pads.

Maybe it’s just the styling at Mango, but the collarless blazer looks good both open and closed, and it looks really fresh. I think it will be most wearable, for most people, with a belt like the one above, but that’s just me.

The blazer is $139.99, and available in sizes XXS-XXL. The matching wide leg trousers are $69.

You can also see the trend upmarket, as well – this Givenchy blazer uses strong shoulders to emphasize an hourglass look, as does this pretty pink option from LaPointe.
