How is it already the second week of December? I am seriously panicking about the lack of preparation I have done for Christmas this year. The tree isn’t up, the fridge is empty and I’ve not bought a single present. Yep, I’m really that disorganised. That being said, I have started to put some plans into motion, and I rang my mum this morning to ask what gifts I should get for the family. While we were on the phone, she mentioned that she was off to get her nails done, and asked me what Christmas manicure colour she should go for. As a beauty editor, I am used to my friends and family coming to me for skincare, makeup and nail advice, so I was more than happy to chat about my favourite shades of the season.
I’ve tried my fair share of trendy festive manicures over the years, but I always go back to these five chic, classic colours. Don’t get me wrong, I love a glittery gold or silver nail every now and again, but I often end up regretting my choice after a week or two, and opting for one of these shades instead. So, I thought that it was only right that I shared my go-to Christmas nail colours with you, just in case you are also looking for some inspiration ahead of your festive nail appointment. Trust me, the below shades will elevate any of your party outfits, so keep on scrolling for all the info…
First up is this beautiful, black cherry shade. After seeing this manicure on Julia Diogo’s Instagram account, I immediately gave the colour go, and I’ve had so many compliments on my nails since. This shade is perfect for those of you who don’t like bright red or burgundy colours, but also don’t want to opt for black. I think it looks so expensive and is ideal for this time of year.
This colour looks great with a super glossy finish, so I would recommend using a shiny top coat when doing your nails yourself.
Price shown is members’ price. Yes, this nail varnish is actually called Black Cherry Bomb. If that doesn’t make it perfect for this trend, I don’t know what does.
OPI also has an amazing black cherry option.
Next up is forest green. Not only does this colour remind me of Christmas trees, but it’s great for adding a subtle pop of colour while still looking sophisticated.
This shade looks stunning on both short and long nails, and if you want to make it a little bit more festive, try adding some nail art or a glittery accent nail.
If you do want a bit of sparkle this season, OPI have got you covered.
This set is great as it comes with a classic forest green colour and a gold polish if you want to add an accent nail.
How gorgeous are chocolate brown nails? I’ve been seeing this colour everywhere, and although it’s currently trending, it’s actually been a classic choice for years. Just looking at this manicure makes me want to snuggle up in front of the fire with a Christmas film and a hot chocolate in hand.
Although it might not seem like an obvious choice for Christmas, in my opinion there is something so cosy and festive about this shade.
Such a beautiful, deep chocolate brown shade from Hermès.
If you prefer something a little lighter, I love this option from Nails Inc.
I couldn’t do this roundup without including a classic red shade. This manicure is so timeless, yet it still gives off all of the Christmas vibes.
The great thing about this colour is that you can tailor it to suit you, whether you prefer a deep red shade or something bold and bright.
This Chanel polish will remain in your collection for years to come.
Another deep red option from Nailberry. This just screams Christmas to me.
Chrome nails are the chicest way to incorporate a bit of shimmer into your manicure this Christmas. When these nails first became popular, everyone thought the trend would come and go, but they have remained a favourite amongst celebrities and nail artists for years now, making them a classic choice.
I mean, just look at that shine!
To get that chrome finish at home, opt for a shimmery nail polish like this one from Dior.
Essie have a shimmery, pearly white shade that is perfect for this time of year.
