It’s hard to believe that Thanksgiving is around the corner! To kick off holiday outfit ideas, I wanted to share this festive sequin find under $60 that’s surprisingly comfortable and can be styled a couple different ways. If sequins are not your style, both of these outfits also work beautifully with this satin slip skirt that I wear all year round (the new Silver Cloud color is lovely in-person).
Below I’ve styled the sequin skirt for a dressier event, as well as for a more cozy festive vibe. The cozy option is right up my alley since I love the juxtaposition of something oversized and soft with a fitted piece in a different texture. I’m excited to wear it for a dinner coming up, and you can also swap in flats to dress it down further for a house party.
1. Sleek & Elegant
Sequin Midi Skirt
A great option that won’t break the bank. This has a stretchy, fully elastic waistband with a slim fit and is fully lined. I like that the individual sequin pieces are small, giving it a more refined, sparkling look. XXS fits perfectly on me at the waist and hips, and hugs my figure without being too fitted around the rear end.
The xxs measures: 24″ around the waist, 31.5″ long.
Reformation Ezlynn Top
I’m a huge fan of Reformation “better than basic” tops (like the Clarke – a longtime EP fave) and this silhouette is a winner. The twist front combined with an off shoulder cut is very elegant, and the sleeves don’t easily ride up when you move your arms.
The XS fits true to size, but since my usual size is xxs this is a little big on me. It works, but would work even better if it were a tighter fit all around, so I might sew a hand stitch to where the armholes are to tighten that area. I also got the velvet to try which is stunning and looks really luxe in a thicker velvet fabric, but it feels a little bigger on me than the regular jersey fabric one. It’s so pretty, though, I might put in the work to do the DIY alterations.
2. Cozy Glam
I did silver shoes here for extra shine, but this look also worked well with neutral shoes like my Ann Taylor slingbacks or my Marc Fisher block heels (runs narrow).
Everlane Sweater
This sweater is an old favorite of mine, with an oversized fit in the perfect neutral “Almond” color. It’s been a winter wardrobe essential of mine for several years now, and can easily be dressed up or dressed down. This sweater has a slight itch factor but I almost always wear it over a layer, so it doesn’t bother me.
For this outfit I use the bra band tuck hack shown in this blog post to avoid bulk at the midsection. Just FYI, this tip only works with regular bras that have snug-fitting, non-stretch bands, and not on stretchy bras like Neiwai.
