Ulysse Nardin is a Swiss luxury watch manufacturer founded in 1846 by Ulysse Nardin in the town of Le Locle. It is known as one of the most innovative and independent watchmaking houses in the world, especially famous for its marine chronometers, perpetual calendars, and astronomical complications.
Interesting fact: To save the company from bankruptcy, Ulysse Nardin’s former CEO, Rolf Schnyder, personally smuggled cash and watch parts across borders in a regular backpack. During these risky trips through Asia, he often hid from customs officials by pretending to be an ordinary hippie tourist. This adventurous extreme allowed the brand to maintain its independence and finance the creation of its first revolutionary movements.
