Luxury watchmaking and high-performance engineering continue to converge as Richard Mille introduces one of its most distinctive creations yet. Drawing inspiration from the precision, lightweight construction, and mechanical artistry of championship bicycles, the Swiss maison has partnered with renowned Italian bicycle manufacturer Colnago to unveil the limited-edition RM 64-01 Tourbillon Colnago.

Created in an edition of just 50 pieces worldwide, the new timepiece reflects the growing crossover between haute horlogerie and elite sporting craftsmanship—a philosophy long embraced by Richard Mille through collaborations with Formula 1 drivers, tennis champions, and world-class athletes.

The RM 64-01 immediately stands out with its architectural skeletonized construction, designed to echo the tubular frame geometry of Colnago’s iconic racing bicycles. Its open-worked movement, composed of 274 meticulously engineered components, emphasizes transparency, structural efficiency, and minimal weight—qualities equally valued in both fine watchmaking and professional cycling.

The watch is built around a microblasted Grade 5 titanium baseplate and bridges, while the exposed gear train becomes a visual centerpiece. Positioned at 1 o’clock, the mainspring barrel delivers an impressive 65-hour power reserve, while the tourbillon regulator at 7 o’clock mirrors the arrangement of a bicycle’s drivetrain, reinforcing the mechanical dialogue between the two disciplines.

Design references extend beyond the movement. The upper titanium bridges feature a distinctive star-shaped motif inspired by Colnago’s legendary Master steel bicycle, a model that became an icon of performance cycling during the 1980s and remains highly collectible among enthusiasts.

For the first time in one of Richard Mille’s sport-oriented collections, 5N red gold plays a prominent decorative role, accenting both the flange and crown cap. The luxurious metal contrasts with the technical case construction, crafted from lightweight white Quartz TPT and highlighted by striking azure blue Quartz TPT inserts—a newly developed color introduced specifically for this release.

The same white, blue, and red palette also appears on Colnago’s flagship C68 bicycle, visually reinforcing the partnership between the two brands.

More than simply celebrating cycling, the RM 64-01 Tourbillon Colnago represents the growing appeal of cross-disciplinary luxury, where advanced materials, precision engineering, and artisanal craftsmanship meet. With only 50 examples available globally, the watch is expected to attract collectors who appreciate both exceptional horology and the enduring prestige of elite sporting innovation.
