With spring hopefully around the corner, navy has been my go-to as a less stark alternative to black for pairing with lighter hues. I wanted to get some pics up before the $59 pants sale is over (ends tonight 3/7) because these wide leg trousers are so good!
From the website I was afraid they’d be clown-like on petites, but was convinced by all the good reviews to give them a try. They’re actually soo flattering from all angles (including the rear – see my video), and can go from work to weekend brunch paired simply with my fave bodysuit tee or tank, as shown below. The gold buttons are chic without being overly nautical, and I love the flat pleats (minimal bulk at the hips) and perfectly placed front pockets. These come in 4 colors and also a sailor short style.
The medium weight “twill” fabric has a little structure as well as drape to it, and is smooth and comfortable to the touch. I tried on both the camel and navy and preferred the darker color – the camel showed some creasing at the upper thigh after my sit tests, while the navy conceals any wrinkles and panty lines. Fit wise, they run a touch smaller for Ann Taylor bottoms but are still a little loose at my waist. Size 00 Petite measures 12.5″ across the waist, 10″ rise, 29″ inseam (I’m 5′ tall and wear 3″ heels with these).
If you’re looking to meet free shipping minimums when checking out AT, I’d recommend picking up the Audrey crop pant as a staple. I found it ran about a size small and sized up to 0P. The Audrey crops in size 0 Petite measure: 12.5″ across the waist, 10″ rise, and 24″ inseam and you can see them in my recent Ann Taylor reviews!
I need to do a more formal review on this Demellier handbag because it’s absolutely gorgeous, with quality that rivals that of my higher end bags. I bought the black for a family member last Christmas thanks to their free international shipping and have been eying the cream ever since. The smaller “Midi” New York size is perfect for petites, and they nailed the neutral color choices (the tan is stunning as well). The pebbled leather wipes clean surprisingly easily, which I learned after a recent spat with ketchup on this white bag!
