Sweater: Wayf off shoulder xs (3 colors)
Skirt: Theory wool cashmere skirt 00 – same skirt but 1″ shorter
Boots: Steve Madden 5.5 (my review; similar with more stock)
Bag in video: Madewell bucket bag (my review)

Thank you to Nordstrom for partnering on this post. Navy and brown tones are quickly becoming my favorite color combo of the season. I used to gravitate more toward camel brown, but am learning that cooler-toned taupe browns or deeper chocolate browns are more flattering against my skin tone and provide a little contrast. This Wayf sweater in “mocha” is a recent find, and I wanted to show it styled two ways below with some existing pieces in my closet.

A Few Other Nordstrom Finds:

Wit & Wisdom chunky cardigan – so cute and cozy. XS is a loose fit on me.

Gentle Souls ankle bootie (on sale) – At the top of my fall wishlist are very low-heeled, sock-style booties that I can tuck under slim & straight jeans and comfortably walk long distances in around the city. Ideally I’d like a rounded square toe, like these Aquatalia Larra booties which are high quality and waterproof, however they run a little narrow (I’d size up to a 6). The Aquatalias are still a top contender for me, but I ordered these Gentle Soul ones to try and compare!

Theory crepe dress (price match to $155) – this looks awful in the model photos, but is actually beautiful, elegantly minimalistic and petite-friendly in person. I saw this in store, loved it in both classic colors, and ordered size 00 online. It’s priced much lower at Theory.com but final sale, so I prefer to buy at Nordstrom and successfully requested a price match online.

Floret Studios velvet dress – an elegant holiday option. XS was too big for me around the shoulders, chest and arms, but would be sexy and flattering on someone who can fill it out better. The length is petite-friendly, though the sleeves are regular length.

Wayf sweater xs, Levi jeans 25 (hems cut; my review), Blondo boots, EP mini belt xxs, Songmont bag c/o

When trying on this sweater, I immediately noticed and appreciated the thin elastic band inside the shoulder circumference. It makes it fit a little more securely and keeps the shoulders from sliding around too much. The knit is medium weight, and the length is actually on the shorter side so I don’t have to tuck in several inches of length.

I’d wear this sweater with straight or wide leg jeans (would also be gorgeous with wide leg trousers) – since the sweater is fitted, I would do non-fitted on the bottom to balance it out. These waterproof Blondo ankle boots were an old purchase from many years ago and still going strong. My only complaint is the zipper can be stiff, but a little wax along the metal helps.

Paired with this Theory mini instead, it results in a luxe textural combo of ribbed knit + smooth wool cashmere from the skirt. Theory was my first love 10+ years ago when I first started blogging, and I’ve found myself going back to the brand this year for high quality, timeless, minimalist pieces. The linked Theory skirt is the latest version of mine with the same material composition and color name, but the listed length is 1 inch shorter than the one I have on.

For colder weather you can add a pair of brown tights, or go black tights with black booties. I get questions on whether it’s ok to mix black with navy, and personally do it often!
