It’s no secret that I love foundation. Foundation and lipstick are the things I’m always excited to test out. Maybe that’s because they make such a huge difference on your face, or maybe because I’m exceptionally picky about the results I want. But testing a new foundation so I can give you a personalized recommendation is one of my favorite parts of what I do here.

Lancome Teint Idol Ultra Wear Care and Glow Foundation with Hyaluronic Acid – this is the most recent foundation I’ve added to my round-up. I really love how it feels on my skin and that it adds a little bit of a natural-looking glow. If you have oily skin or are prone to a lot of shine on your face, you may not love this foundation. On that note, though, you can always set it with a little translucent setting powder if you want to absorb some excess oil.

For me, this is what I plan to wear in the winter when our weather gets a little drier and I’m looking for a fuller coverage finish. It has a lot of hydrating ingredients so if your skin is dry, this may be a great option for you!

Lancome Teint Idol Ultra 24H Long Wear Matte Foundation – I reach for this one if I need a flawless, full-coverage finish to my skin with a natural matte look. It doesn’t feel overly dry on the skin, nor does it feel quite as heavy as Estee Lauder Double Wear, for comparison’s sake. A little goes a long way, and it truly lasts all day on my skin.

Clinique Even Better Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF Foundation – this foundation is one of those ”easy to wear, works for nearly everyone” types. It has good ingredients that help brighten your skin while you wear it. It claims to be medium coverage but I find it to lean more on the medium-to-full end. It looks natural/realistic on the skin and lasts all day.

IT Cosmetics CC+ Nude Glow Lightweight Foundation – this foundation looks amazing on the skin but it is seriously glowy. It may be a better winter foundation for me since the humidity in North Carolina adds its own glow to my skin. I find that IT Cosmetics foundations tend to look warm/yellow on me, and since I have pink undertones it causes a bit of a disconnect in the coloring, but despite that, the finish is really beautiful. It somehow perfects everything and hydrates as well. In general, I recommend IT Cosmetics to people who don’t mind a little bit of the *feel* of foundation on their skin and are okay with warm tones.

Georgio Armani Luminous Silk Perfect Glow Flawless Foundation – this is truly the most effortless foundation for me. It’s no fuss, no extras, just a natural-looking medium coverage. I can see my freckles, which I like, but that means I also have to spend a little bit of extra time covering blemishes that may peek through. I get a bit of shine when I’m wearing it on super humid days, but other than that it looks like skin. I love that it doesn’t separate or patch up on my skin.

Finally, when it comes to applying foundation, I prefer to use a brush. I’ve used and liked both the pro foundation brush from Sephora, as well as a buffing brush from Morphe. I like a brush because it gives me control and allows me to buff the product in and blend it out. I use a beauty blender to blend out my concealer, but I don’t love using a beauty blender all over my face. If you do, great! It’s really just a personal preference for me!
