When it comes to designer fragrances, there are a handful of brands that I go back to time and time again. When I want to smell expensive, I opt for Chanel. If I’m looking for an evening scent, then I know I can rely on YSL. However, if I want a perfume that’s going to turn heads, I always go for the French perfume brand that is loved by the likes of Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Naomi Campbell. If you’re wondering which brand I’m talking about, it’s none other than Dior.
Dior perfumes have been a favourite amongst celebrities and beauty editors for years now. Not only is the brand’s packaging super chic, but the elevated scents will earn you plenty of compliments. I’m sure you’ve all heard of Dior’s classic fragrances such as J’adore and Miss Dior, and these iconic bottles have been a part of my collection for as long as I can remember thanks to their wearable appeal.
However, did you know that they also have a range of more contemporary perfumes known as La Collection Privée Christian Dior? This collection is quickly becoming one of my absolute favourites, and I’ve been seeing the signature Dior bottles all over my Instagram feed.
If you’re thinking about treating yourself (or someone else) to a luxury fragrance from the brand, I’ve rounded up my top choices below to help make your decision a little bit easier. So, keep on scrolling for the best Dior perfumes that money can by, and prepare to have everyone asking you what scent you are wearing…
Key notes: Orange blossom absolute, jasmine grandiflorum absolute and centifolia rose absolute. I’m starting things off with a newer fragrance from the brand called J’adore l’Or. An updated version of the original J’adore perfume, this scent has been created by none other than Francis Kurkdjian, the perfume creation director for the house of Dior. The bottle itself is a work of art, but the fragrance really is the main event. It’s warm and sensual, and thanks to hints of orange blossom, it also has a beautifully fresh finish.
Key notes: Amber and Turkish rose. Part of the La Collection Privée Christian Dior range, Ambre Nuit is the perfect perfume for the autumn and winter months. Heavy, sweet and sensual amber is combined with rich, honey-like Turkish rose for a truly intoxicating scent that will wrap you in a warm embrace.
Key notes: Vanilla, rum, patchouli and cocoa. Speaking of sweet, this gourmand fragrance from the brand is inspired by Diorama Gourmand, one of Christian Dior’s favourite desserts. The dish was created especially for the designer at Parisian restaurant Maxim’s. Although I have never tried it myself, after smelling this perfume, I can only imagine how delicious it must be. Vanilla, rum and cocoa come together to create a fragrance that’s almost good enough to eat.
Key notes: Lily-of-the-Valley, peony, iris, vanilla and sandalwood. You didn’t think I would do this roundup without including Miss Dior, did you? I think this was my very first fragrance from the brand, and it’s still one of my favourites to this day. In fact, I’m yet to meet anyone who doesn’t like this scent. It’s fresh, it’s floral but it also has a warm, musky element thanks to notes of vanilla and sandalwood. It really is the perfect perfume for all year round.
Key notes:Damascus rose, oud and sandalwood. If you like a floral scent with an earthy, woody edge, then Oud Ispahan might be the perfume for you. I love it as I think it gives a unique take on your classic rose fragrance, and I’ve heard so many other editors rave about how good it is.
Key notes: Oakmoss, patchouli, sandalwood and bergamot. A unisex scent from Dior, this fragrance is inspired by the colour grey, the iconic shade of the House of Dior. It’s definitely not for the faint-hearted, but perfect for those of you who are wanting a perfume to make a statement. Think woody notes combined with citrusy bergamot and spicy patchouli.
Key notes: Sambac jasmine, orange blossom, vanilla and licorice. Next up, an absolute classic. Hypnotic poison is a charming scent, with sweet orange blossom, vanilla and sambac jasmine. It’s smooth, intoxicating and a total crowd pleaser.
Key notes: Sea salt, jasmine, coconut and pine tree. Last but by no means least, say hello to Eden-Roc. This perfume is a tribute to Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc that sits along the French Riviera. It really is the perfect holiday fragrance thanks to notes of creamy coconut and fresh sea salt.
