Montrachet is a legendary white Burgundy wine produced in the eponymous vineyard in the Côte de Beaune. It is known as the most prestigious and expensive white wine in the world, made exclusively from Chardonnay grapes. The wine is famous for its rich, complex flavor with notes of honey, nuts, spices, and minerals, as well as its astonishing ability to age for decades.

Interesting fact: In the 1970s, a French winemaker named Bernard Dupont discovered an old bottle of Montrachet in his cellar that his grandfather had hidden during World War II. The bottle was covered in mold and the label was almost worn away. Dupont nearly threw it out, but decided to open it at a family dinner. Imagine his surprise when the wine turned out to be perfectly preserved! Astonished, he took it to the best sommeliers in Burgundy for examination. They confirmed: the wine was from the 1928 vintage — one of the greatest wine years of the 20th century. Today, that bottle is one of the last remaining in the world, and its value is estimated at half a million euros. Dupont never sold it, keeping it as a family heirloom.
