A few weeks ago, I headed to New York for the Tribeca Film Festival, and it turned into a weekend steeped in cinema, art, and culture.

Between screenings of Rosemead, Boy George and Culture Club, and The Last Guest of the Holloway Motel, I squeezed in as many galleries and exhibits as possible that I cannot stop thinking about.

We kicked things off at the Whitney to see Amy Sherald’s show, which was just as powerful and mesmerizing as you’d expect.

At Pace Gallery, I was completely drawn into Alicia Kwade’s exhibit. Her work felt like stepping into another dimension.

We made our way to Lisson Gallery to see pieces by Carmen Herrera and Hugh Hayden. Carmen’s work stopped me in my tracks—clean, bold, timeless. A standout favorite.

The Salman Toor exhibit at Luhring Augustine completely swept me away. His storytelling through color and form is unmatched. This was the first time I had seen his work in person and it was hands down my favorite of the trip.

We visited the Guggenheim the following day for the Rashid Johnson show (moving and layered).

From there, we walked down to the Met for the Dandy Style fashion exhibit and their newly reimagined Rockefeller Wing.

Finally we made our way to MoMA to see the Jack Whitten and Hilma af Klint exhibits. Two artists whose work couldn’t be more different, yet both left a lasting impression. Whitten’s experimental textures and emotion-packed abstractions were mesmerizing. Klint’s spiritual, symbolic paintings felt like stepping into another realm entirely.

I left every space inspired.

We also carved out time to pop into the new Printemps New York store. It’s not surprise that this blew my mind away. The design, the textures, the entire space had me drooling. It’s like retail therapy reimagined. I literally rounded every corner letting out “oohs” and “aahs”.

Sprinkled in between all the culture? A dreamy stroll through Central Park, dinner at Polo Bar (always a classic), and a visit to the new San Vicente Bungalows NY which was cozy, cool, and buzzing in the best way.

It was honestly the best trip I’ve had to the city in a long time. I was able to fully immerse myself in the kind of culture I’m always craving.
