Harvey Wallbanger cocktail is believed to have been created in the 1950s or 1960s by bartender Donato “Duke” Antone in Los Angeles. Its quirky name comes from a legend about a clumsy surfer named Harvey, who, after a rough day and a few too many of these drinks, stumbled into walls on his way out. The cocktail gained widespread fame in the 1970s, thanks to a creative advertising campaign that leaned into its playful backstory and vibrant, carefree energy.
