Rice Hat (more known in Vietnam as “Nón lá”) is a traditional Vietnamese conical hat with the distinctive shape and cultural significance. Made from materials like palm leaves, bark, and bamboo, it is both lightweight and durable. The hat serves multiple purposes: protecting the wearer from sun and rain, and sometimes even as a makeshift basket. Nón lá is often associated with Vietnamese peasants and workers, symbolizing the country’s agrarian roots. Despite its simplicity, the hat is a cherished cultural artifact and is often worn during festivals and traditional performances. In European countries the hat is sometimes also called as “Peasant Hat” or “Sedge Hat”.
