As you read this, we’re just one day away from cracking open our advent calendars, signifying the countdown to Christmas. From here on out, days and nights will be filled with celebrations, get-togethers, gift exchanges and plenty of wrapping. In my opinion, this is the time when our wardrobes work hardest, taking us from crisp winter walks to full glam New Year’s Eve parties, having to be adaptable to temperatures and varied occasions all at once. So to add ease to a busy period, I’ve identified six expensive-looking festive outfits entirely from Marks & Spencer

Throughout the year, I find myself turning to M&S for everything from affordable staples to party pieces, thanks to the brand’s timeless, high-quality offering that embraces an expensive look without the accompanying price tags. This season, M&S has honed in on classic pieces that can be styled up for all the social occasions that the festive period offers. From classic jeans and knitwear you’ll also wear throughout the season to dazzling dresses that tick off Christmas, New Year’s Eve and any other celebrations that arise in 2024, the new collection has so many gems. In fact, I was so impressed that I didn’t just build one party look, but six cold-weather outfits that will see you through your busy winter calendar.

Scroll on to discover six ready-made winter outfits for all your upcoming festivities, entirely from M&S.

Style Notes: If you’ve got a work Christmas party coming up, nothing says professional yet stylish like a suit. This sleek jacquard suit adds a polished touch to the festive period and can be worn together or separately for various styling options. Add a camisole underneath, a bold bag to add some flair and a smattering of elegant accessories to finish the look.

A satin blazer will elevate any ensemble.

The matching trousers can be worn with the blazer as a suit or paired with a simple knit for a year-round work look.

M&S’s much-loved crossbody bag comes in a festive red shade.

A great pair of sleek heels will see you through all dressy events.

Style Notes: Chances are you have a festive day out planned over the next few weeks, whether that’s a lunch with friends, picking up some gifts or heading out to see the Christmas lights. But you don’t have to sacrifice style in favour of warmth. A cosy knit is key for the season and creates contrasting textures when paired with leather trousers. Add versatile chunky boots and a cosy brushed coat in an elevated cream hue, and complete the look with warm cashmere-lined gloves.

The brushed texture and cream hue mean this looks at least triple the price.

Upgrade your festive jumper to a sleek Fair Isle version.

Leather trousers are my go-to throughout the cooler months.

M&s’s footwear selection is so strong right now.

A cosy finishing touch.

Style Notes: During the festive period, even a trip to the pub can be a special event. For those smart-casual moments, you can always rely on jeans and a nice top. Classic straight-leg jeans will be a reliable style throughout the year and can be easily elevated with this pleated satin blouse. Complete the put-together look with a timeless camel coat and chic knee-high boots.

If you told me this was designer, I’d believe you.

If you’re not a fan of sequins, look to satin add that elevated touch.

This pair comes in three leg lengths for the ideal fit.

I’ve added these to a few of the outfit builds, proving just how versatile they are.

So many of our editors have these on their wish list.

Style Notes: If you’re the kind of person who goes all out on Christmas Day, look no further than this sleek midi dress. Add some bold silver earrings, and if you’re looking to fully embrace the festivities, red heels fit the bill. If you have essentials to carry, do so in a shimmering bag.

For me, jeans are a no-go for a big Christmas dinner. Here’s where a comfy dress comes into its own.

The silhouette would have you thinking this was a designer piece.

Embrace the colour of the season with these bold red heels.

The organic shape and oversized silhouette make these the perfect standout accessory for the big day.

Style Notes: The whole Who What Wear UK team agrees: tonal outfits always look so expensive. If you’re searching for a look that can keep up with your after-office dinner plans just as well as formal family occasions, you can’t go wrong with neutral tones. Plus, a knitted dress and boot combination always feels polished.

Knitted-dress season is officially upon us.

This tan shade will also complement blue jeans, black tailored trousers and satin dresses in pretty much any colour.

I haven’t stopped thinking about this bag since it released.

Style Notes: A satin dress is one of the most versatile items you could add to your wardrobe, thanks to its ability to suit all occasions. Instead of buying a dress for one night, I’m looking to a satin dress that I’ll restyle for various occasions from New Year’s Eve to weddings and birthdays. To ring in the new year, take it to the max with a bold faux-fur coat, knee-high boots and shimmering accessories.

From a sleek midi to simple jeans and a tee, a faux-fur coat will fit into so many outfit builds.

The deep grey shade is a nice change from simple black and feels especially elevated.

These are so good, I had to include them twice.
