Whether it’s your go-to for off-duty chic, or your ultimate all-out glamour, nothing beats a red lip for an instant impact, especially when it comes to Valentine’s Day. Here, I round up my picks of the best red lipstick for every skin tone that I’ve relied on backstage and pre-red-carpet over the years.
LA BOUCHE ROUGE
For my collaboration with La Bouche Rouge I created six classic red lipsticks; one for every type of girl. From a classic British red to barely-there berry, I’ve tried to find a red that will work on everyone.
I work with a lot of people who feel at their most beautiful with a bold, red lip, but equally a lot of people could never imagine themselves feeling comfortable with a statement colour. Ranging from a bold rock star red shade, inspired by pop art and the reds in Andy Warhol’s work, to an innocent blush, reminiscent of your first red, like a delicate rose or the juice of a pomegranate.
I also included a passionate, vampy red, a regal, classic British royal red, a 70s American orange-red, think all-American, Pepsi Cola and roller disco, that will look amazing on dark or tanned skin, and an autumnal brown-red that is the closest to a nude in this collection, and will be great for those who often shy away from the trend.
